Notice and Assumption of Risk:
Whitewater paddling is a risky outdoor sport. BRV is not responsible for any individual’s decision to participate in a trip, or for his or her decision to run any river or section of a river.

The list of scheduled trips below remains a work in progress and reflects mostly weekend trips. Other trips are ad hoc and announced via the BRV email list.

For more about BRV's excursions, please see the club's trip guidelines.

Mid-week trips:

  • Stay tuned to BRV emails whenever there's water in fun places.
  • (Feb. 2017) CCA has launched a new Pick Up Trips email list for people to connect anytime area ww creeks and tributary rivers are runnable. With a nod to the late Steve Ettinger, target runs may be based on rainfall, gauges, correlations, and sheer mojo, with back up plans. To subscribe to this list, send an email with the subject "Pickup Trips" to webmaster@canoecruisers.org, or post a proposal to trips@canoecruisers.org.
  • The Thursday Paddlers, an informal group of DC area whitewater boaters, organize trips once or several times a week from March to November. To join their email list, contact Miki Komlosh or Mark BrennemanFellow trip instigators include  Ron KniplingTim TilsonBarb BrownBob MaxeyGus AndersonJohn Snitzer, Alf Cooley  and Wayne McDaniel.
  • Wednesday p.m. paddling on the lower Potomac: CCA's Mike Baummer coordinates trips for all area after-work paddlers from Anglers to Lock 10, Little Falls or Violette's Lock. See MikeyB's posts on the MCC board for updates and details.
